Jed D. Melnick, Esq. is the
Managing Mediator for the Weinstein Group and works closely with
Hon. Daniel Weinstein (Ret.) one of the nation’s preeminent
mediators of complex civil disputes. As part of Judge
Weinstein’s team Jed has been involved in the mediation and
resolution of hundreds of disputes with an aggregate value in
the billions of dollars. Jed has mediated over 500 disputes,
published articles related to mediation, founded a nationally
ranked dispute resolution journal, taught young mediators, and
has had the primary responsibility for successfully mediating
numerous high stakes cases.

Qualifications

Part of the Weinstein Group that mediates cases
with aggregate values of billions of dollars annually, while
helping to design innovative processes tailored to unique,
complex, and highly sensitive cases.

Primary Responsibility on numerous cases:
o Lead role in successful mediation of coverage
litigation surrounding the former Directors and Officers at
Adelphia Communication Corp., as well as lead role in settling
the class action and six opt-out cases against the D&O’s.
o
Lead role in successful mediation of coverage
dispute in American Business Financial Services, Inc., pending
in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
o
Primary responsibility for post-mediation
follow-up that led to settlement in Fiduciary Counselors, Inc.
v. Magnuson, leading the presiding Judge to comment on the
record, “Judge expresses his thanks and appreciation to Judge
Daniel Weinstein and Jed Melnick for all their intensive efforts
to mediate settlement of this case.”

Primary responsibility for follow up leading to
settlement in Sunoco, Inc. v. Epsilon previously pending in
Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Pro-bono panel mediator for the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission – successfully mediated numerous
employment related matters from Philadelphia, New Jersey and
Delaware.

While in law school part of the team from the
Center for Court Innovation that founded and built the Crown
Heights Community Mediation Center in Crown Heights Brooklyn in
part to address the conflicts between the Orthodox Jewish
community and the Caribbean and African American communities
after the Crown Heights riots.
